The rational architecture of the 165 metre tall Ernst & Young Building incorporates environmentally sustainable design principles. A 4-star energy rating promotes low-energy consumption through efficient air conditioning and lighting systems. The double-glazed facade and special window design control heat loads and encourage natural light to penetrate the workplace.
The building is ecologically sustainable and within the bounds of a commercial development. The ecological sustainability incorporates three major components;
- Low Energy Demand through use of low energy consuming systems, including a Variable Air Volume air conditioning system with economiser cycles, efficient lighting and with the facade design it optimises heat load and use of natural light.
- There is no use of materials threatened with extinction, such as certain species of timber
- Pollution control and use of material recycling where possible.
